8/6/02 -Ron
Thanks to everyone who tuined in to check out the Sudden Doom Overtime
Orodruin
special, and thanks to John and Mike from Orodruin
for coming down and spreading the doom. I will be out of town for
the next few weeks, so email Ian to
remind him to do the show while I'm not here, or you'll end up listening
to reggae instead of SDO. |
7/23/02 -Ron
Unfortunately, the Nile/Arch Enemy show in Buffalo has been cancelled.
The closest show on that tour is now 7/28 in Cleveland. On a better
note, the Summer Blasphemy tour, featuring Incantation, Impaled,
Decapitated,
Vehemence, Dead to Fall, and Withered Earth will be
at Classic Rocks in Buffalo on August 3rd. In the meantime, I am
off to the Milwaukee Metalfest. Tune in this week to hear The Invincible
Ian do his version of SDO, which features a lot of gore metal, and very
few microphone breaks! |
6/19/02 -Ron
Playlist is up, and a bunch of new shows have been added to the concert
calendar. |
6/15/02 -Ron
Yeah, we were back last week, but theres no playlist up. Why
not? I fucked up and lost it! This weeks will be up tomorrow,
or my name ain't Ragin' Ron. (ps - it is.) |
5/19/02 -Ron
It has come to my attention that the Hypocrisy show has been
moved. It will taking place in Buffalo at Classic Roxx. Sorry
for any confusion. |
5/18/02 -Ron
I'll be out of town for a few weeks, so the show will be off the air.
While I'm gone check out Sonic
Insanity and Axecalibur
to satiate your metal cravings. Also don't miss Soilwork, Hypocrisy,
Scar Culture, and Killswitch Engage at the Water St. Music Hall
on The 23rd (Thats this Thursday night!) |
3/24/02 -Ron
Playlist, concert

'em out. New local band in the links section, Orodruin,

Also, be sure to tune in to WITR this Tuesday Night at 9PM
when
I'll be hosting Rochester Sessions featuring live music from 137. |
3/17/02 -Ron
I'm finally back in Rochester - thanks to Ian for covering for me last
week and for some of this weeks show. Playlists for both are up now.
The concert calendar will be brought up to date ASAP. |
2/24/02 -Ron
Go see Cryptopsy, Withered Earth, and Kalibas on Wednesday
night (2/27) at The Club at Water Street! If you want more metal
shows of any kind in Rochester, it's vital that you get out there and hit
some shows!
I'd also like to remind everyone that if you hear an unsigned band
on the show that you like, just check out our links
section or email me for more info, and I can tell you where you can get
in touch with the band.
I will be out of town for the next two weeks, so until I return, keep
it metal and bang the head that doesn't bang! |
1/12/02 -Ron

Thanks to everyone who tuned in for the end of the year wrap-up.
As you can see from the playlist, it was a massive show. SDO will
return on January 12th. In the meantime, there are some excellent
metal shows coming up in Rochester. I can't stress enough the importance
of supporting live music. Here's a note from Mike, of the band 137
about the situation:
The Rochester metal scene, as always, needs a
boost. Local clubs are giving up on metal. Bands are doing the best they
can, but don't get much help from local clubs [...] As it stands now, it
is going to be almost impossible to bring nationals in, unless bar owners
see the demand for it. They are also beginning to shy away from the local
metal [...] We need all the help we can get.
Thanks,
Mike
137
I've said it on air many times before: your favorite band will never get
booked to play a show in Rochester if you don't support all metal
bands that play here. Here are some shows coming up to check out:
Thursday, January 3rd at the Penny Arcade - Warblade,
homeRX, and Savingthrow - Show at 9PM
Warblade is a new Rochester band that take their inspiration from melodic
death metal greats like In Flames. Check out their homepage here
Saturday, Jan. 5th at Water Street - Withered
Earth, Within, 137, Herod - doors @ 8 :30 show @ 9PM
If you listen to the show, you probably know Withered Earth, and
you can check out Within mp3s here
and visit 137's homepage here
I will see you all in the new year, until then, support metal in Rochester...
or there won't be any metal in Rochester. |

with the subject "I want free stuff!" will win an SDO prize package featuring
a Nuclear Blast sampler with songs by top NB artists such as Children of
Bodom, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames, Primal Fear and many more, PLUS: Stickers,
singles, posters, and anything else I find lying around the station!
Don't worry if you don't make the first five though, because the rest of
the emails will be entered in a drawing to win more stuff as well.
Only one winner per address, good luck, and get your emails in now! |

Alright, finally an update! First off, new stuff:
Descend + All That Is Evil Split CD (Cutting Edge)
God Forbid - Determination (Century Media)
Marduk - La Grande Danse Macabre (Century Media)
Murder Squad - Unsane Insane and Mentally Deranged (Pavement)
My Dying Bride - Meisterwerk I (Peaceville)
Nunslaughter - Hell's Unholy Fire (Repulse)
Savatage - Poets and Madmen (Nuclear Blast)
Major thanks to Malcom (drums for Nunslaughter, vox for All That Is
Evil, ex-vox From the Depths) for hooking me up with both the Nunslaughter
disc as well as the Descend/All That is Evil split CD at the AC show last
Sunday. Nunslaughter are all a bunch of cool guys, and they played
an awesome set of pure death metal. Thanks to everyone who came out
to the show.
New old stuff! I hit some record shops today and snagged
some older CDs that our station is missing, so we now have:
Blind Guardian - Somewhere Far Beyond
Dark Tranquility - The Gallery
Sodom - Persecution Mania + In the Sign of Evil/Obsessed
by Cruelty (double CD box set)
Rhapsody - Legendary Tales
The station doesn't give the show a lot of money to flesh out our back
catalog, so we may explore other ways of making money in the future.
SDO shirts could be on the way, and I'm also considering some kind of micro-donation
scheme where people could give small amounts of cash towards CD purchases.
If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, feel free to send
me an email.

NY area and not just Rochester. I recommend getting out to every
show you can, even if you have to drive a little ways, because true metal
needs your support! And speaking of support, I have also added some
more unsigned bands to the links section.

there soon. Don't worry, the season is almost over! |

section, and make sure you check out Morbid Angel with they hit the Penny
Arcade on March 7th. |
2/10/01 -Ron
Just got back from the Darkest Hour show at the Bug Jar. Awesome
show, although a little weird being the only guy with long hair in the

is only 5 bucks, so if you can make it, I highly recommend it.

1/13/01 -Ron
Congratulations to Larry from Canandaigua, who is the winner of our
Cradle of Filth giveway. Your goodies will get mailed out ASAP.
The show will be starting late tonight due to the RIT hockey game,
but don't worry, we will be on. One more CD came in that I forgot

show a listen sometime, as he plays an awesome mix of new and classic metal. |
1/5/01 -Ron
Looks like I spoke too soon, I will be here for the show tomorrow night.
I'm keeping the later deadline for the COF giveaway though, to give those
who don't check the web page religiously a chance to get their entries
in as well. I'm also going to include a big Cradle of Filth sticker,
and a VHS of the video for "From the Cradle to Enslave" and maybe some
other random stuff I've got lying around over here, so enter now! |
1/5/01 -Ron
Tomorrow night the show will start a little late, probably approximately
10:15, due to an RIT hockey being broadcast. My brother in metal
Ian will be taking the reigns this week, maybe with a little help from
DJ Whitesnake, but we'll try and keep him from spinning any G n' R this
time. Due to the fact that I won't be hosting, I've extended the
Cradle of Filth giveaway (details above) an extra week, so get those entries
in! |
1/3/01 -Ron

Check out some live shots of the recent NYC Stormtroopers of Death
show in the features section. |
12/15/00 -Ron
Bad news. Due to technical issues with WITR's transmitter, there
will be no show this week. Since I'm heading out of Rochester next
week, I won't be able to host the show again until January 6th. I'm
attempting to find DJ's to help out while I'm not in town, so keep checking
here for the latest. Since we obviously can't give away the Cradle
of Filth on the air, I will hold an online-only contest to give it (and
some other bonus stuff) away in the near future. To tide you over
while SDO is out of commision, I want to recommend a couple other Rochester
metal radio shows. Tune into WRUR, 88.5FM on Monday night from 12-2am
to hear Rites of Terror, and Tuesday night from 7-10pm is Sonic Insanity.
Both awesome shows. Also, when WITR gets back on the air, make sure
to check out Axecaliber on thursday nights from 10pm-12am, which features
classic and progressive metal and guitar rock. I highly recommend
checking out all these shows, so tune 'em in, give 'em a call, and tell
'em Ron sent ya. |

The In Flames photo gallery has been updated
with some excellent pictures from their Syracuse show. Kaz and I
are heading to NYC to catch S.O.D. on Thursday, so I might have some pictures
of that up in the future. In other news, the local
calender has been updated with more shows, and the Cradle of Filth
album will be given away on this weeks show, due to me forgetting to give
it away the other night. |
12/6/00 -Ron
Thanks to everyone who came out to the Mortician show. All the
bands put on great perfomances, and a kickass time was had by all.
If you're trying to find me at a show, just check out some of the photo
galleries in the features section, where there
are some photos of me. There were some problems with the suddendeathovertime.com
email
addresses for the past week or so, so if you couldn't get a hold of me,
try again, as everything is working now. I will be here this weekend,
but the start time of the show will depend on how RIT does in their hockey
game Friday night, so I'll update this page as to whats going down.
If you tune in and hockey is on though, just stick around, because I'll
be there eventually. I'll be giving away a copy of Cradle of Filth's
"Midian," so look forward to that as well. I recommend everyone check
out the Christmas Benefit,
happening this Friday December, 8 2000 @ the Penny Arcade
all proceeds will go to benefit the charity "Children Awaiting
Parents"
admission is $10 or toy of $10 value
Agiel, Falling 12 Stories, Kalibas, Snaggletooth, and Withered Earth

all be there. |

A while back I heard a new power metal band called "Freternia" on Metal
Mark's show that really piqued my interest. I got ahold of them
and they were kind enough to send me out a copy of their CD, which I have
reviewed.
All power metal fans should check it out. More features are going
to be added to this site soon, so keep an eye out for updates. |
9/18/00 -Ron
Alright, bad news. I know I said I'd do a Monday show tonight,
but unfortunately I've come down with something and I'm too sick to do
it. I do want to say thanks to everyone who checked out our first
Saturday night show. The playlist is
up now if you want to check it out. |
9/12/00 -Ron
I just got the lowdown on a cool show coming to town
Morbid Angel, Immolation, and Withered Earth
Will be at the Penny Arcade on November 19th. The Penny Arcade
is now ages 16+, and they have removed restrictions on moshing, so it will
be allowed! There may be another band added to the bill later, and
I will keep you informed. Be there! |
9/11/00 -Ron
Alright metal fans, BIG NEWS!
Sudden Death Overtime is Moving!
Due to scheduling changes here at WITR, Sudden Death Overtime has a
NEW
TIME, starting this week Sudden Death Overtime will be on Saturday
Nights at 10pm.
We will be on tonight, but this will probably be our last Monday night
show for the forseeable future. So tell all your friends that we're
packing up and heading to Saturday. The main upshot of this will
be that I can stay up practically all night Saturday, which means MORE
METAL!
So, check us out tonight, and then again Saturday night for our first
show in the new timeslot. |
9/9/00 -Ron
I've returned from my trip, and the show will be back from its hiatus

me an email. |
8/6/00 -Ron
We've got a bunch of cool new stuff to debut on the show tomorrow night,
so here's a rundown:
New Arrivals:
Sinergy - To Hell and Back (Nuclear
Blast)
TT Quick - Ink (Ocean)
Dee Snider - Never Let the
Bastards Wear You Down (Koch)
For Those About to Rot (Various) - AC/DC Tribute (Dwell)
Gateway to Hell 2 (Various) - Slayer Tribute (Dwell)
Behemoth - Satania (Dwell)
Opera IX - The Black Opera
(Dwell)
Machine - What are you looking
at? (New Renaissance)
The new Sinergy album is absolutely killer, and may be a feature in
the coming weeks. Tomorrow nights feature will most likely be In
Flames' Clayman, due to the big response to the giveaways. If you
haven't entered to win yet, there is still time, so do it now!
Kaz and I had a great time seeing Maiden in Toronto. Kaz complained
that the crowd was not lively enough, but since it was my first Maiden
show I couldn't have cared less about the crowd. We will most likely
pay tribute to Iron Maiden on the 14th to celebrate their local appearance. |
8/1/00 -Ron
Awesome show last night, started making distinctions in the playlist
between my sets and Jeff's so you can get a feel as to what we each play.
Thanks to everyone who tuned in, and as I mentioned, we have one more copy
of Clayman for our
In Flames Giveaway:
To enter to win just send an email to suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
with the subject "Contest Entry" and your name and mailing address.
Winners will be drawn randomly next monday night before the show at approx
9pm EST, so make sure and get your entries in before then.
Rochester Shows:
King Diamond/Shadows Fall/Babylon Whores/Deep is Friday August 11th
at the Water St.
Two shows on Wednesday August 16th, so take your pick:
Iron Maiden/Halford/Queensryche is at Darien Lake and
The Crown/Krisiun is at the Water St.
I'm heading up to Toronto tonight with Kaz to catch Entombed/Halford/Maiden,
so wish us luck on our Canadian metal excursion. |
7/31/00 -Ron
Latest check of the RealAudio stream shows it up and running, so everything
should be cool for internet listeners tonight. The Mayhem show last
night was excellent, and all the bands put on good shows. Night Conquers
Day unfortunately was not able to play, but luckily Agiel was on the scene
and able to fill in. Not a lot of new stuff in this week, but we
do have some new Black Metal from Napalm
Records (Windham Hell, Forlorn, Obtained Enslavement, Sins of thy Beloved,
and Vintersorg) so if you're into it, call us up and we'll get some
on for you. In other news, we will be giving away a copy of the new
In Flames album on air tonight, so get those phones ready. |
7/26/00 -Ron
RealAudio stream is back up. Hopefully it will stay up until
our next show. Unfortunately, both Crowbar and 60 Watt Shaman could
not make the Water St. show last night. Dan, the lead singer
from 60 Watt was in the hospital with a broken leg, so they couldn't do
the show, and Crowbar had to drive to new Orleans and then to Milwaukee
because Goatwhore is scheduled for the Metalfest this weekend. But
Snaggletooth played, Bughouse put on a good show, and Zakk was incredible,
so thanks to everyone who came down, and hopefully Crowbar and 60 Watt
will be back in the future.
Early word has it that The Crown and Krisiun will be at the Water St.
on August 16th. Unfortunately this is the same night Maiden will
be at Darien Lake, so a tough choice for metal fans. If you aren't
going to Maiden though, definately check this show out. I'll have
confirmation of it soon. Until then, remember that Mayhem is at the
Water St. this Sunday the 30th, and King Diamond is here August 11th. |
7/24/00 -Ron
It appears our RealAudio stream is down again, so unfortunately those
of you who listen on the internet are out of luck. If you listen
on the internet and can make it to Rochester on the 30th, send
me an email before 11pm tonight and I'll see about getting you some
Mayhem tickets as consolation. |
7/18/00 -Ron
Playlists:
Big thanks to everyone who listened last night. We got tons of
requests and it was a great show. I have started posting the full
playlists from the shows in the playlist section (previously only the top
ten was posted), as well as archiving previous shows playlists, so if you
missed the song titles or if you're a new listener and want to get an idea
of the kinds of things we play, just check out the playlist
section.
Tickets:
Congratulations to all who won tickets for Mayhem and Zakk Wylde.
As I mentioned on the show, Geno will have Zakk Wylde tickets to give away
on Axecalibur Thursday
night at 10pm, and I will be giving away more Mayhem tickets next Monday
night.
Metal Mailbag:
We got a bunch of CDs in the mail this Monday, including the big package
I mentioned that came in from SPV, with great stuff from Lana Lane, Rhapsody,
Mob Rules, Ivory Tower, and more. Once again, very cool of SPV to
hook us up with this stuff. We also got the new Deep album "Pieces
of Nothing" from Pavement as
well as an album called "Damned if You Do... Dead if You Don't" from Motive,
a cool unsigned band from Arizona. A couple new discs from Relapse
came in as well: the new Benumb and the new Origin. As always, don't
hesitate to call or drop me an email to ask if we have something in, as
there is not enough space here for me to list everything. |
7/14/00 -Ron
Congratulations to our ticket winners for the Monday night Cephalic
show.
Make sure to listen to this Monday's show: because we will have
both Zakk Wylde and Mayhem tickets to give away.
We also got a package from Century
Media with the new Dark
Tranquility album "Haven" as well as the new Angel
Dust album "Enlighten the Darkness" plus the new album from The
Gathering "if_then_else" |
7/10/00 -Ron
Cephalic Carnage/Deeds of Flesh/Mortal Decay/Disgorge/Withered Earth
- Giveaway!
Alright, as you know if you listened to the show, we've got one more
pair of freebies for this show. Just send an email to suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
with the subject "Contest Entry" and your full name to enter. I will
choose the winner in a random drawing Friday, so get all entries in before
then. Once again, the show is at the Water Street and doors open
at 7 and the show starts at 7:30. |
7/7/00 -Ron
Zakk Wylde comes to Rochester!
That's right, Zakk Wylde and Black Label Society, (along with Crowbar
and 60 Watt Shaman) will be hitting our very own Water Street Music Hall
on July 25th! Be there! |
7/5/00 -Ron
The streaming audio is back up for now, so internet listeners will
be able to check us out again. For those on the internet who don't
already know, Tomorrow night at 10pm on WITR is Axecalibur,
which is the other metal show on WITR. You won't hear any death metal
or hardcore there, but if you dig power/ prog metal and guitar rock, you'll
love it. |
7/4/00 -Ron
First off, congratulations to Alan (of Heavy
Metal Lives) who is the winner of our Steel
Prophet giveaway. To all those who didn't win, don't lose hope,
more giveaways are coming soon. I'd like to thank all who listened
last night, as our tribute to In Flames
and melodic death metal went great, so thanks to all who tuned in and apologies
to all on the internet who couldn't. (Check out the playlist
for an idea of what went down)
Upcoming Rochester Shows:
Monday July 17th at the Water Street Music Hall: Deeds of Flesh,
Cephalic Carnage, Mortal Decay, Disgorge, and Withered Earth. Admission
is $6$/8 and doors open at 7 with the show starting at 7:30.
Sunday July 30th at the Water Street Music Hall: Mayhem, Hate
Eternal, Exhumed, and Night Conquers Day. Admission is $15 and doors
open at 7:30, and showtime is at 8.
Cool New Stuff:
Rob Halford: Resurrection is the fitting title of Halford's
return to metal, and is also name of the first single. I give it
two thumbs up.
Extol: Undeceived. Check out this band's homepage here.
This album is a very brutal combination of death, black, and melodic metal.
Cool. |
7/3/00 -Ron
Sorry to all the internet listeners, it looks like our RealAudio stream
is having problems and won't be fixed by showtime tonight. I attempted
to have it fixed, but tech support is out for the 4th weekend. It
should be back up in the near future though. Once again, apologies,
and hopefully things will be cool by next weeks show. |
7/2/00 -Ron
I transcribed the interview with Bjorn, so now you can read it online.
It is up now in the features section.
I've been listening to Clayman practically nonstop since we got it, and
I can't praise it enough. We might do something special for In Flames
fans for the 4th of July show, so check it out. I also added some
more banner links including one to the newly
redesigned In Flames official page. |
6/30/00 -Ron
I did an interview on Wednesday with Guitarist (and ex-drummer) Bjorn
Gelotte of In Flames. You can check out the interview in mp3 format
right now in the features section, and I will
transcribe it in the near future. We also recieved the new In Flames
album Clayman, which is due out here in the US on July 25th, so tune in
this Monday to check it out. |
6/27/00 -Ron
The Dismember pics are up in the features
section right now. Thanks go to Kaz for his photographic prowess
when taking these. |
6/26/00 -Ron
Rev. Ciancio from The
Syndicate just called me "Ronnie James Bauerlio" in an email, and from
henceforth all are required to address me as such. Be sure to tune
in tonight, as it's sure to be an awesome show. Then again, they're
ALL awesome shows. If you haven't entered our Steel
Prophet contest yet, go
for it! These guys are an awesome power/traditional metal band,
and Messiah is a great album. Word is that Maiden will be coming
to Buffalo on or around August 16th, so start planning now. I've
also heard that King Diamond will be right here in Rochester on August
11th, but the venue hasn't been confirmed. Zakk Wylde will be at
The Funhouse/Sideshow music hall in Buffalo on July 13th, along with Crowbar
and 60 Watt Shaman and of course, I'll see you all at Poison/Dokken/Slaughter/Cinderella
tomorrow night, so excuse me while I purchase some more hairspray. |
6/24/00 -Ron
Had a good time watching Spinal Tap earlier tonight, truly a must-watch
for every metalhead. Keep your eye out for the theatre re-release
this fall, as well as a Tap reunion tour! Some cool new arrivals
in the old metal mailbag this week:
Violation - Moonlight's
Child (This album knocked me on my ass, awesome melodic death metal, might
end up this weeks feature, out on Red
Stream)
Lana Lane - Secrets of
Astrology (Limb Music)
Ivory Tower - Beyond the Stars (Limb
Music)
In site news, I've put up this page to
showcase some banners from other sites, because it would hardly be fair
of me to ask for people to use my banners without having somewhere to put
theirs in return. |
6/23/00 - Ron
Anyone wishing to link to us with a banner or graphic can now check
this
page to snag one. I plan to add more in the future, but if in
the meantime, none suit your needs, feel free to create your own if you
wish. |
6/23/00 - Ron
I have uploaded the pictures from the U.D.O. show, so check them out
now in the features section. Also, a
Contest Update:
I have extended the Steel Prophet giveaway deadline to the 3rd of July
to give Geno a chance to announce it on Axecaliber
so that his listeners won't be left out. I was also informed that
some of you may have been having trouble with entering the contest.
I believe the problem is fixed now, so if you tried to enter before but
your message was bounced back, just re-submit your entry to suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
and if you have any other trouble, don't hesitate to email
me. |
| 6/21/00 - Ron
Steel Prophet Giveaway!
Alright everyone, its contest time again! This time around we
have a copy of the brand new Steel
Prophet album "Messiah" up for grabs. This was our featured album
the week before last, and if you're a power metal fan, this album is a
must have. Rules are as per usual, just drop an email to suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
with the subject "Contest Entry" and your name and mailing address included,
this contest will run until next Thursday the 29th at 10pm when the winner
will be randomly drawn. Thanks to the fine folks at Nuclear
Blast for making this contest possible. |
6/20/00 - Ron
We had a great show last night, and we're getting a lot of requests
and positive feedback. Something that was brought up more than once
and that has been on my mind lately is the serious lack of good metal bands
touring here in the US. The only thing we can do about this is show
our support by picking up their CD's and merchandise, and trying to turn
our friends on to them. Since commercial radio rarely touches metal,
its up to all of us to spread the word about the bands that we know deserve
more attention. Thats about enough of my ramblings though, so lets
get down to business, including some new stuff we've been graced with,
including:
The brand new King
Diamond album "House of God" which was our feature last night.
It's out on Metal Blade
Roadrunner Records
also just dropped us the brand new Deicide
album "Insineratehymn"
The shows last week were all incredible. Photos from the U.D.O.
and Dismember shows are on the way. |
6/13/00 - Ron
Thanks to everyone who listened last night. Jeff is off on tour
with his band, and for the next week or two it'll be just me, so if you're
not getting your recommended dosage of grind and hardcore, just call in
and request some and I'll get it on for you. I'd also like to say
thanks again to everyone who came down to the Water St. show on friday.
There was a good turnout and the show was great. Congratulations
to Butch from Ohio, who won himself the brand new Maiden disc, even after
his multiple entries were removed. More giveaways are coming soon.
Upcoming shows: Tomorrow night is of course the U.D.O. show in
Buffalo at The Funhouse, and if you're a fan of Accept or classic power
metal in general, you owe it to yourself to get to this show. Thursday
night is of course the Rochester stop of the International Extreme Music
Festival, featuring Shadows Fall, Kataklysm, Krisiun, and Dismember.
These are all great bands, and it's the first time Dismember has been in
the US in seven years, so get out to the Penny Arcade and show your support
for these death metal legends. Also of note: Ted Nugent will be making
a rare club appearance this Sunday night at the Water St. and if you're
into him, its a great chance to see him outside of the Arena settings he
usually plays in. |
6/8/00 - Ron
I want to remind all the local listeners to make sure and hit the show
tomorrow night at the Water Street. A bunch of great local bands
will be there, including our pals Withered Earth and Blind Identity.
There are dark rumours afoot about the state of the heavy music scene hear
in Rochester, and it's more important than ever to support local bands
right now.
Contest note: multiple entries will not increase your chances
of winning (so cut it out Butch). |
6/6/00 - Ron
Alright, its time once again for a giveaway! By now everyone
knows that the new Iron Maiden album "Brave New World" is out, and that
it kicks ass. If you haven't picked it up yet, here's your chance
to get it for free. Just send an email to suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
with the subject "Contest Entry" and your name and mailing address.
The drawing will be held next Monday night at 9pm EST before the
show, so get your entries in before then. |
6/5/00 -Ron
I'm back from 2 weeks of vacation, which is the reason the main page
wasn't updated. I kept the playlist updated every week, which I'll
try to do even if I'm not updating this page. We've got a lot of
cool stuff to hit tonight, so be sure to tune in. |
5/18/00 - Ron
Introducing Sudden Death Overtime web mail! Thanks to Evil

Jon Oliva interview update:
Due to some requests, I have transcribed the Jon Oliva interview.
Check it out in the features section.
|
5/17/00 - Ron
Congratulations to the big three winners in our Grave Digger giveway,
Luke from England, Brian from Maryland, and Matt from Syracuse. You'll
be getting your prizes soon. Look for more web contests in the future,
and be sure to tune in for on air giveaways too.
Also, check out the features section for
my interview with the mountain king himself. It's a 20 minute mp3
fat packed with Savatage goodness. If enough people request it, I
may transcribe the interviews in the future, but I personally prefer to
hear the actual audio, so thats the format I put up.
I noticed that our RealAudio feed was down last night, apologies to
internet listeners who couldn't get to us. I've taken care of the
problem for now, so everything should be cool. |
5/15/00 - Ron
I interviewed Jon Oliva from Savatage
and Trans-Siberian Orchestra
this morning, and got a lot of interesting info from him. I will
have the interview on the site in mp3 format soon.
In other news, it looks like The Indestructable Beat, the world music
show that usually comes on right before us, may not be happening tonight.
If it doesn't I may take it upon myself to fill that empty spot with some
metal, so tune in starting at 8pm tonight and check it out. |
5/15/00 - Ron
Remember, today is the last day of the Grave Digger contest, so if
you haven't entered yet, do it! All entries must be in by 9:30PM
EST tonight. |
5/13/00 - Ron
Read about my trip to NYC to see Ronnie James Dio last month, now in
the features section. (or just click here.)
In other news, we recieved the full length of the new Motorhead album,
entitled "We Are Motorhead" plus a few other odds and ends we'll be featuring
on the show this week, so be sure to tune in.
Contest Update:
Due to a large amount of entries, I have decided to increase the number
of prizes. There will now be three winners, each getting a
copy of "Excalibur." One Grand Prize winner will also get a copy
of "Identity 6" Century Media's
newest compilation, featuring music from some of their best bands.
The two runner's up will recieve Century Media's fall sampler from last
year. We might also throw in a few other surprises depending on what
we have around at the station. There's still time to enter before
the drawing monday night, so if you haven't yet, just send us email at
suddendeathovertime@portalofevil.com
with the subject "Contest Entry" and your name and mailing address. |
| 5/9/00 - Ron

Digger's new album "Excalibur" out now on Nuclear

weeks show, and will be announced on the show as well as on the page.
(Note: multiple entries will not increase your chances of winning)
In other news, the big release this week is the new Iron
Maiden single "The Wicker Man" which of course sees the return of Bruce
Dickinson and Adrian smith to the Maiden fold. The new album, called
"Brave New World" should be out by the end of the month. |
5/2/00 - Ron
I'd like to apologize for the late start this week, Jeff and I had
some scheduling conflicts. We'll try to avoid things like that in
the future, and we'll update the page if the show won't be on. If
you did manage to find the show despite the goof-up, you know that we got
some very cool new records in the mail this week:
Sinner - The End of Sanctuary
(Nuclear Blast)
Motorhead - See Me Burning
(single, CMC)
Kenziner - The Prophecies
(Metal Blade)
Vader - Litany (Metal Blade)
Luca Turilli - King of the Nordic Twilight (Limb
Music)
Alice Cooper -
Brutal Planet (Spitfire)
Cephalic Carnage
- Exploiting Dysfunction (Relapse)
Incantation - The Infernal
Storm (Relapse)

Digger album, and we'll be giving one away on the show next week, and
the other here on the web page, so check back here for details. |

Just got a pile of new black metal in the mail from Necropolis
Records, including stuff from Usurper, Viking Crown, Thornspawn, and
Summon. If you wanna hear some, give us a call during the show or
drop
us a line.
Got some more info about the Shadows fall show. They are on tour
as part of the International Extreme Music Festival, and with them at the
Penny Arcade on the 15th will be Dismember, Kataklysm, and Krisiun.
I'm in the process of trying to get some tickets to give away on the show,
so stay tuned for that.
Also coming up in June, on the 25th at the Finger Lakes P.A.C., Dokken,
Slaughter, Cinderella, and Poison. I've begun teasing my hair in
preparation. |

Some cool new stuff we got this week:
Savatage - Ghost in the
Ruins (tribute to Criss Oliva, released domestically on Nuclear
Blast)
Zakk Wylde & Black Label
Society - Stronger than Death (ex-Ozzy guitarist, out on Spitfire)
Domine - Dragonlord,
Tales of the Noble Steel (Italian power-metal band, released domestically
on Metal Blade)
I also just got word that Shadows
Fall (their web page hasn't been updated with this yet) will be at
the Penny Arcade here in Rochester on June 15th. I'm announcing this
pretty early, but if you've been listening to the show you know why this
is good news. They are certainly one of the best new bands around.
Everyone really needs to get out to this show. You can read some
PR stuff about them here
but if you've heard them, you don't need the label to tell you they rock. |
